Jazz, Chamber, New Music & Acoustics
On May 10, listen to The Sound of Community at the Athenaeum. Join multi-wind player Ellen Weller and friends in an evening of collaborative real-time soundscapes and interactive audience experience. Also, the jazz summer series opens with a special celebration of Juneteenth featuring Brian Blade & The Fellowship Band. One of the world’s leading jazz drummers, Blade brings Jon Cowherd on piano, Melvin Butler on tenor and soprano saxophone, Myron Walden on alto saxophone and bass clarinet, and Roland Guerin on bass, to the Athenaeum for their first local appearance.
LECTURES
Art History, Music & Architecture Lectures
In June, bringing innovative research, fresh perspective, and dynamic challenges to the historical status quo, musicologist Dr. Charissa Noble will present a special lecture series, On the Edge: Radical Art and Music Scenes of Early 20th Century California. Also, join us for an artist talk by exhibiting artist Marisa Takal.
