“Lisa Bebi’s workshop The Painted Image: Making Art from Snapshots is the first art class I’ve participated in through Athenaeum Music & Arts Library. I was drawn to Lisa’s whimsical, colorful style and the sense of humor she infuses into her work. Over the six-week duration of the workshop the instructor demonstrated several methods of tinting and painting on top of photocopies. She thoughtfully included a specific materials list, offered advice on resizing and printing photographs, and showed how to mount a picture to canvas. Using these techniques, I created several original paintings using black and white photographs of my relatives. This workshop was an ideal way to try something new.”

“I loved taking the class with Sharon. It was so fun to be guided through different painting techniques and styles each week. It was the perfect balance of teaching, demonstration/observation, personal exploration and feedback on each participant’s work. Fauvism is such a fun painting style to explore and put one’s personal twist into.”

“Griselda’s class was amazing because it opened up ideas to be creative in a practical way. She gave me tips to put this creativity into my morning routine and to start doodling after meditation.

Griselda is an inspiration. She reminded me to be inspired by the simple things, like clouds and blue sky. She also emphasized doodling and this has been very helpful for inspiration.

The watercolor techniques were helpful and the kit with pen has been put to use; this has been the greatest tool to boost the start of my creativity. The books that she recommended were new to me.

She covered so much for in what was considered little time. I would love to take another class with her in order to continue producing art.”

“Why study with Lisa Bebi?
To find the fun that has been missing from your Art.
Her gentle and specific techniques for Paintovers, lifts me out of myself.
Going through old family photos to prepare for this class allowed me feel all the feels, capture and resolve some memories, and honor my family.
My therapist is an artist, too, and she noticed when I talk about the process, years, worries, and wrinkles fall away.
I’m continuing Paintovers.
Have now included a table in my studio dedicated to this Art.”

“Nostalgic Still Life class has helped me gain more painting skills and the confidence that I need in order to continue my journey in becoming a successful artist. It was an honor being part of the class.”

— DESIREE LAWRENCE

“Nostalgic Still Life painting class was a rewarding experience. The class covered more than just the basics of painting and of a successful composition. We had art talks discussing art as a business and tips on how to go out into the art world and sell. A very rewarding moment from class was the one-on-one talk with the instructor discussing goals with our artwork.”
