DIRECTIONS

FROM INTERSTATE 5 SOUTH, take the La Jolla Village Drive exit. Turn right on La Jolla Village Drive. Turn left on Torrey Pines Road. When Torrey Pines Road dead-ends, make a right turn on Girard Avenue. Go three blocks to the corner of Wall Street. The Athenaeum is on the corner of Wall Street and Girard Avenue. If you come to Prospect Street, you have passed us.

FROM INTERSTATE 5 NORTH, take the La Jolla Parkway exit west (toward the ocean). Continue as La Jolla Parkway becomes Torrey Pines Road. When Torrey Pines Road dead-ends, make a right turn on Girard Avenue. Go three blocks to the corner of Wall Street. The Athenaeum is on the corner of Wall Street and Girard Avenue. If you come to Prospect Street, you have passed us.

FROM INTERSTATES 15 & 805 NORTH OR SOUTH, take SR 52 west, and follow it until it ends as La Jolla Parkway. Continue as La Jolla Parkway becomes Torrey Pines Road. When Torrey Pines Road dead ends, make a right turn on Girard Avenue. Go three blocks to the corner of Wall Street. The Athenaeum is on the corner of Wall Street and Girard Avenue. If you come to Prospect Street, you have passed us.

PARKING

Free time-limited street parking is available for one or two hours until 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Parking after 6 p.m. is unlimited. Please note that parking may be more difficult to find on weekends and Friday and Saturday evenings. Parking is usually available on Wall Street, Girard Avenue, and Herschel Avenue, and within a several-block radius of the Athenaeum. There is valet and long-term paid parking in lots and garages located throughout the village including those behind the Athenaeum in the alley off Herschel Avenue, on Herschel Avenue between Wall Street and Prospect Street, and on Fay Avenue between Prospect Street and Silverado Street. One handicapped spot is available in front of the Athenaeum. If you need special assistance with handicapped parking for a concert or event, please call us in advance, and we will be happy to help.

DIRECTIONS

FROM INTERSTATE 5 SOUTH, take Cesar E. Chavez Parkway exit. Turn left onto National Avenue and then left again onto Cesar E. Chavez Parkway. Go under the bridge, and the second street on the right is Julian Avenue. The Bread & Salt building will be on your right. 

FROM INTERSTATES 15 & 805 NORTH OR SOUTH, take CA-94 West/Martin Luther King Jr Fwy. Take exit 1B to 25th Street. Turn left onto 25th Street and drive for half a mile. Turn right onto Cesar E. Chavez Parkway. Turn left onto Julian Avenue. The Bread & Salt building will be on your right. 

PARKING

There is a free parking lot in the alley off Dewey Street, behind the Athenaeum Art Center between Julian Avenue and Kearney Avenue, available for use by students. There is also ample free street parking on Julian Avenue that is untimed. A limited number of handicapped spots are available in front of the entrance to the Bread & Salt building.

Due to its association with the Chicano Civil Rights Movement since the 1970s, Chicano Park was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and in 2017 was designated a National Historic landmark.  With over 32,000 square feet, the park is home to the country’s largest collection of outdoor murals dedicated to the cultural heritage of the community.
