Teacher Exhibition in the School of the Arts Hallway Gallery

K.V. Tomney, Jean Krumbein & Sharon Carol Demery
Fall 2024–Winter 2025

The Athenaeum School of the Arts La Jolla art studio hallway has art on display by artist K.V. Tomney and faculty artists Jean Krumbein and Sharon Carol Demery. Currently K.V. Tomney, Jean Krumbein, and Sharon Carol Demery have works on display in the School of the Arts Hallway Gallery. Tomney presents Keeping in Form, small drawings made by pen and ink with polymer and aluminum on paper. Pools, patios, and palm trees are among the images in what the artist describes as “remote, spare, subdued drawings of Southern California.” Krumbein displays several beautiful portraits in pen and ink conté crayon. All are created from a life model. She says, “The spark of immediacy and connection created when drawing from a live person is a truly wonderful experience.” The still-life paintings of Sharon Carol Demery are wonderful celebrations of color. Sharon remarks, “Painting flowers connects us to nature, serenity, and a timeless sense of transient beauty.”
