Larry Goldings made last Athenaeum appearance at TSRI in his stellar B3 organ trio with Bill Stewart and Peter Bernstein, recognized by The New York Times as "the best organ trio of the last decade." His musical inspirations draw from a lifetime of absorbing jazz, pop, funk, R&B, electronic, and classical music. He is known for long-term collaborations with such artists as Jim Hall, Maceo Parker, John Scofield, Steve Gadd, Jack DeJohnette, Pat Metheny, Michael Brecker, John Mayer, and others. In 2007, Scofield/Goldings/DeJohnette's Trio Beyond - Saudades (ECM) was recognized with a Best Instrumental Jazz Album Grammy nomination. For the past 20 years Goldings has also been recording and touring with singer-songwriter James Taylor and is featured on Taylor's One Man Band. He visits the Athenaeum on the eve of a summer-long tour with Taylor. Goldings is joined by David Piltch, whose credits range from Willie Nelson and Bonnie Raitt to Bill Frisell and Luciana Souza, and by Jay Bellerose, whose credits range from Allen Toussaint and B.B. King to Alison Krauss and Anthony Wilson.
