OMAR PIMIENTA: Defragmentation
Rotunda Gallery
OMAR PIMIENTA
Defragmentation
February 19–March 26, 2011
The artist subtitles this exhibition or how to get rid of my memory voids and intends visitors to detach and take the photos that are displayed. The ephemeral installation fills the walls of the Rotunda from floor to ceiling with more than eight hundred 4 x 6 prints from the artist’s photographic archives from the period 2006–2011. Nearly all of the photographs had been removed by the end of the exhibition. Pimienta is an interdisciplinary artist and writer who lives and works in the San Diego/Tijuana border region. He holds an MFA in Visual Arts from the University of California, San Diego.
