In collaboration with the La Jolla Historical Society, this exhibition follows the life of William Newport Goodell (1908–1999) through his art. The La Jolla Historical Society focus is on his work and life, his self-portraits, still life, and other figurative work, while the Athenaeum focus is on his landscapes, seascapes, and work inspired during wartime service. Goodell was a resident of La Jolla and served on the faculty of La Jolla Country Day School for twenty-three years.
