LAEL CORBIN
Camber
November 17–December 29, 2018
San Diego-based artist Lael Corbin creates sculpture, photography and site-specific installation. His recent work is an investigation into forces -- those that push forward, hold down, pull back and lift up. This investigation manifests in a series of varied experiments intended that we better understand how these forces work and to explore their aesthetic potential. The results have been measured, not by the success or failure of the experiment, but rather by the experiments’ ability to reveal the effect of the force on both object and artist. Lael received an MFA from San Diego State University, and currently holds a position as an Associate Professor at Point Loma Nazarene University, San Diego. He is a 2007 San Diego Art Prize winner as well as the 2010 recipient of the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego’s Cerca award.
