Remember when you were a kid with a new box of crayons? In this workshop, we will play with the “wild beast” of color that is crouching in all of us. Using black-and-white photo references, we will reinforce some good drawing fundamentals that can help you improve your observational drawing skills. At the same time, we will remind ourselves what it felt like to be a kid with no preconceived notions of how to use color.

Come play with us!

Materials: Drawing paper (black, white, or colored); any pastels, crayons, or colored pencils that you would like to bring; black-and-white photo references. If you don’t already have some of these materials, I will have all of them on hand to share with you. My photo references are mostly portraits, so if you don't want to draw faces, bring some photos that interest you.
