Create paper with beautiful colors and patterns, then utilize that paper in artist’s book projects. Experimenting with various mediums and techniques, including paste paper, we will transform ordinary paper into paper with unique designs. Then, using those papers, we will construct a sketchbook, a triangle book, and/or a box to house projects. The processes we will explore are low-tech enough to reproduce at home. It will be a fun way to practice different methods, utilize various ink, paints and dyes, and play with color, as well as produce finished pieces.

Materials: Cutting knife; stylus (for scoring); sharp pencils and a good eraser (Pink Pearl is good); glue (UHU glue stick or a small container of PVA and brush); ruler; scissors.

Optional/recommended: Plastic centering ruler (e.g., 2” x 12” C-Thru); bench hook with cutting mat (9” x 12” cutting mat size is ideal); bone folder.

Included in the materials fee: papers, paint, and inks will be provided for creating the decorative paper.
