Amanda Farber: True Stories from Nature
Amanda Farber exhibits works of acrylic on wood, ink on paper, and graphite on paper. Her images derive from imaginary forms, personal memories, photographs, textile patterns, vintage illustrations, and advertisements. The paintings contain high contrasts and rhyming negative spaces, with distortion or abstraction often blurring the line between two and three dimensions. Farber holds a BFA from Cooper Union, New York and an MFA from University of California, San Diego.

Ken Price & Charles Bukowski: Heat Wave / AB 1997.2
Catch a glimpse of Los Angeles in Heat Wave (Black Sparrow, 1995). L.A. native Ken Price illustrates a loneliness and determination inherent in L.A. life in a series of serigraphs, referred to in the thirty-one poems by Charles Bukowski that make up the text.
Heat Wave is part of the Athenaeum’s Erika & Fred Torri Artists’ Books Collection.
