On June 14 the spring Athenaeum Jazz STREAMING LIVE! series concludes with a date by two leading West Coast–based jazz artists, guitarist Larry Koonse and pianist Josh Nelson. Larry’s Athenaeum connections go back to 2001, with the performance by the celebrated L.A. Jazz Quartet that opened the Athenaeum’s Jazz at the Studio series, and include memorable dates with Brazilian vocalist Luciana Souza, Billy Childs, and pianist Mike Wofford. He is joined by the brilliant pianist-composer-bandleader Josh Nelson, who has performed with some of the most respected names in jazz, including Kurt Elling, John Pizzarelli, Benny Golson, Sheila Jordan, John Clayton, George Mraz, Jeff Hamilton, Dave Koz, Joe Chambers and Peter Erskine. He also toured with legendary vocalist Natalie Cole for six years. Josh’s prior Athenaeum appearance was a memorable date with Grammy-nominated vocalist Sara Gazarek.
