Randy Brinton will accompany Naomi on violin.
Randall began violin in his public schools’ music programs. He attended San Diego State University where he earned a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance. While a student there, he began his career with the San Diego Symphony. During a sabbatical leave he received a Masters in Orchestral Conducting from California State University, Long Beach.
Besides symphonic music, Randy has performed in most every other genre including opera, ballet, chamber music, and recording work. He has soloed with orchestra in the concertos of Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, and Vivaldi. In addition to classical music, he is comfortable in rock, pop, and jazz settings.
Currently, he is concertmaster for both Coronado Philharmonia Orchestra and New City Sinfonia. This March he will solo with the Sinfonia in Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 4.
As conductor, Randy has served as Music Director of the Poway Community Symphony and was a two-time guest conductor of San Diego Unified School District’s Honor Orchestra. He was a staff conductor of Civic Youth Orchestra, and has recently coached and conducted for San Diego Unified School District, All About Music Youth Orchestra, the New City Sinfonia, and the Cabrillo Chamber Orchestra.
Alongside his performance career, Randy maintains a private teaching studio. He has prepared many young musicians for conservatory and university-level study, with former students continuing on to their own careers in music. Believing that music is for everyone, he also enjoys working with musicians of all ages studying for pure enrichment.
Now retired after a forty-one year tenure as violinist with the San Diego Symphony, Randy enjoys sharing his experience and talents with new musicians and audiences.
