The Athenaeum Art Center in Logan Heights is delighted to commence a series of Artists Talks with the artist Sage Serrano who is part of our current exhibition “Works on Paper.” Serrano will share the stories behind her work and provide insight into her drawing practices.
Sage Serrano is a San Diego native who received her MFA in painting and printmaking from SDSU in 2021 and her BA in visual arts studio with honors from UCSD in 2015.
For her, drawing is a meditative process that helps her recollect and reflect on personal experiences. Her research is a culmination of studio experimentation, line, body, play, collecting the self, bookmaking, and papermaking. She is currently teaching drawing at SDSU and printmaking at San Diego City College. She also teaches bookmaking workshops throughout San Diego and is a member of the North American Hand Papermakers.

El Centro de Arte Athenaeum en Logan Heights se complace en iniciar ciclos de charlas con artistas en exhibición. La primera charla se realizará con la artista Sage Serrano, quien forma parte de la presente exposición “Works on paper". Serrano hablará sobre las historias detrás de su obra y brindará información sobre sus prácticas, técnicas y temáticas de dibujo.
Sage Serrano es originaria de San Diego y es maestra en pintura y grabado por San Diego State University (2021) y obtuvo licenciatura en artes visuales por la Universidad de California, UCSD (2015.)
Sage Describe el dibujo como un proceso meditativo que le ayuda con experiencias personales. Su obra explora la línea, el cuerpo, el juego, la recopilación del yo, la creación de libros y la fabricación de papel. Actualmente da clases de dibujo en SDSU y grabado en San Diego City College. También imparte talleres de elaboración de libros artesanales y es miembro de North American Hand Papermakers.
