Sheer passion for chamber music drives Aviara Trio. Comprised of pianist Ines Irawati, violinist Robert Schumitzky, and cellist Erin Breene, this exciting ensemble has been making an indelible impression on the musical landscape of Southern California for the past ten years. Most recently, the trio was invited to perform on Celebrate LA, Los Angeles Philharmonic's 100-year anniversary celebration, at the Hollywood Bowl. With performance degrees from the Juilliard School, Cleveland Institute of Music, Yale University, and Rice University, Ms. Irawati, Ms. Breene, and Mr. Schumitzky have studied and performed with some of the world’s finest musical pedagogues including Paul Katz, Claude Frank, Timothy Eddy, Fred Sherry, Joseph Silverstein, Jacques Israelievitch, Sally Thomas, Miriam Fried, Peter Oundjian, and the Juilliard, Miró, American, Tokyo, Cleveland, Borromeo, and Alexander Quartets.

Known for her expressivity, virtuosity, and versatility, Indonesian-born pianist Ines Irawati is in demand both as a solo recitalist and a collaborative pianist. Ms. Irawati is currently serving as the music and artistic director of San Diego Opera's Young Artist Training Program, as well as its community outreach concert series, Opera Exposed! Concerts. She has served as a vocal coach and pianist at the Institute for Young Dramatic Voices, and she was the head vocal coach and collaborative piano faculty at Point Loma Nazarene University from 2004–2017.

The Athenaeum Music & Arts Library is pleased to present the 2022–2023 season of the Barbara and William Karatz Chamber Concert Series, beginning October 28, 2022, at 7:30 p.m. The performance series that continues through April 15, 2023, will be set in the intimate Joan & Irwin Jacobs Music Room inside the Athenaeum. Enjoy chamber music as it was intended—in a warm, personal setting, where you are treated as a guest in our historic library. At each concert you’ll hear a mix of music rarely presented locally as well as cherished masterpieces, guaranteed to uplift and move you, performed by the finest chamber musicians we know. We will welcome back some of the Athenaeum’s favorite artists from past seasons along with some new faces that are sure to inspire.

Indonesian-born pianist, Ines Irawati is in demand as a solo recitalist, a collaborative pianist, and a vocal coach. At a young age, she was accepted to the Junior Original Concert, a prestigious music program where young musicians compose original works and perform them around the world.

British Cellist Dr. Sophie Webber is an internationally accomplished soloist, chamber musician, arts activist, and educator, currently residing in San Diego. A former DM student of Janos Starker and Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, she previously studied with Richard Markson at Trinity College of Music, London, from where she graduated with a First Class Honors degree, as well as the Sir John Barbirolli memorial prize for cello.
