Born in Moscow (Russia), Irina Bendetsky showed musical promise as a small child and at age four entered professional music school, where her teacher was a student of the famous piano pedagogue Heinrych Neigaus. After completing Gnessin College, she entered Gnessin Conservatory of Music. Ms. Bendetsky has made concert tours through Bulgaria to St. Petersburg and other Russian cities and has appeared with orchestras - in Russia and the United States - in concertos by List, Ravel, Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, Bach and Shostakovich.

Born in Prague, capital of Czech Republic (formerly part of Czechoslovakia), Ondrej Lewit started to study the violin at the age of seven at Elementary School of Music, later continued at State Conservatory of Music and obtained his MA degree graduating at Academy of Performing Arts. As a member of Camerata Pragensis, Camerata Nova, concertmaster of J. Suk's Chamber Orchestra and especially as a first violin of Cuartetto Cassoviae, he played in many countries of European continent and made many recordings for the Czechoslovak Radio and Television, Italian RAI and recording companies like Supraphon, Opus and Edigsa.

Known for her expressivity, virtuosity, and versatility, Indonesian-born pianist Ines Irawati is in demand both as a solo recitalist and a collaborative pianist. Ms. Irawati is currently serving as the music and artistic director of San Diego Opera's Young Artist Training Program, as well as its community outreach concert series, Opera Exposed! Concerts. She has served as a vocal coach and pianist at the Institute for Young Dramatic Voices and was the head vocal coach and collaborative piano faculty at Point Loma Nazarene University from 2004-2017.

The San Diego Chamber Music Society's popular hour-long concert program: "From Beethoven to Broadway, music for Horn and Piano", featuring selections from famous composers of the past; Beethoven, Mozart, Strauss, Mendelssohn, Saint-Saens, Cherubini and 20th century American composers like Burt Bacharach, Mitch Leigh, Stephen Schwartz, Jerome Kern and Henry Mancini. This is a light-hearted look at some of our most requested pieces from over 25 years of horn-piano concerts; there is something here for everyone to enjoy. Since 2010 they have performed this program over 75 times at libraries and senior/community centers from San Diego to San Francisco and Seattle.

Gloria Cheng will perform John Adams' Minimalist masterpiece Phrygian Gates, along with shorter pieces by Chinese American composers including UCSD professor and Grawemeyer Award-winner Lei Liang, and Pulitzer Prize winner Zhou Long. She will be joined by a surprise guest for a performance of Ravel's "Laideronnette, impératrice des pagode" from his Mother Goose Suite.

We are pleased to announce three livestreamed chamber concerts featuring Grammy and Emmy Award-winning pianist Gloria Cheng, on February 15, Che-Yen Chen and Takae Ohnishi, on March 15, and Quartet Nouveau, on May 10. The concerts will be livestreamed to YouTube Live from the Athenaeum’s Joan and Irwin Jacobs Music Room at 7 PM. Ticketholders will have 48 hours access to a recording.
