ITALO SCANGA
The Art and Music of Italo Scanga
June 9–July 18, 1992
This exhibition included new work by Italo Scanga, one of San Diego’s most renowned artists. A Professor at UCSD, Scanga went on sabbatical to Italy in 1991. His inspiration for these works — ceramic plates, tiles, and collaged magazines encased in boxes — came from working alongside Italian laborers at a ceramic factory in Vitri. Lecture by the artist June 14.
