FLORENCE ASHFORD: Dingbat Modern
Rotunda Gallery
FLORENCE ASHFORD
Dingbat Modern
April 2–May 7, 2011
Created specifically for the Rotunda Gallery, the artist employed typesetting dingbats to form a unique letterpress alphabet. Dingbats are decorative ornaments, characters, and spaces used in typesetting. Most of the letters are printed in the color of an object whose name starts with that letter, e.g., the letter a is printed in the color red for the word ‘apple.’
