Jay S. Johnson creates his sculptural works using found and fabricated objects of wood, clay, and metals. The Lakeside CA artist, who frequently lectures at the University of California, San Diego, exhibits two works, including Various Displays – Some Connected. Also with two works is Adam Belt, who focuses his art on natural forces of the universe. Here his 2011 Hubble Ultra Deep Field is a 2004 Hubble telescope image painstakingly rendered in oil glazes. Belt holds a BFA from the University of San Diego and an MFA from Claremont Graduate University. Ruben Ortiz-Torres is Professor of Visual Arts at the University of California, San Diego. He exhibits four monochrome paintings that react to the touch. Tristan Shone presents his constructed “sound machines” -- a set of voice-modulating masks to be worn and played by a small group of performers who demonstrated the work at the opening reception.
