Learn how to animate! Bring your own iPad to class and use it to unlock the secrets of traditional, hand-drawn animation. This beginner’s course will introduce students to basic animation concepts, like timing, exaggeration, and “squash-n-stretch.” Exercises include learning how to animate a bouncing ball, a pendulum, and a walk cycle. Students will learn about the digital interface, how animated films are made, and how to create their own animated characters and films. This is a course that’s perfect for those who aspire to become animators or for those who are simply curious about the process of making images move on screen. This is a beginner course; previous experience in drawing on a digital tablet is helpful but not necessary. Some basic drawing skills are recommended.

Materials: iPad with Apple Pencil for drawing (no phones, please). Software requirement: Procreate Dreams animation software, available 11/22/2023 for $19.99

Max students: 13
