Coinciding with the 50th Anniversary of Friendship Park located at the westernmost end of the U.S.-Mexico border, the Athenaeum is pleased to present BUILD THAT PARK!, the culmination of a four-phase design competition conceived of by San Diego architect James Brown, FAIA. The exhibition will unveil various responses to the challenge of creating a truly binational park, accessible to and shared by the people of both nations.

BUILD THAT PARK! is a project of The Friends of Friendship Park, a non-partisan, grassroots coalition of individuals and organizations advocating for increased public access to the historic meeting place on the US-Mexico border.
