Barbara Haynor/India: Life along the Ganges

In conjunction with the Athenaeum’s Eighth Annual Fundraising Gala, Fantasy of India, photographer Barbara Haynor exhibited photographs documenting daily life and cultural events of the region along the Ganges River in India. The artist has said, “No other river in the world is so closely identified with a country as the Ganges is with India... [It] is the holiest of all rivers and is the heart of the Hindu faith.” Following the Gala, the photographs were exhibited in the gallery and the old Athenaeum entry hall.
