ANNE LABOVITZ

Passions

November 13–December 31, 2010

This exhibition explored three dominant themes in artist Anne Labovitz’s work–self-portraits, nature, and artist’s books. Color is paramount in Labovitz’s expression. It conveys mood and plays a fundamental role in the capturing of her subject. Labovitz describes her self-portraits in Passions as an 18-month exploration in the use of acrylic polymer emulsion to build layers that capture light and translucent color. Contrasting colors played one against another to create combinations that were explosive, energetic and alive. Showed 76 pieces in the exhibition.
