Selected from the photographs in her book Venezia in Las Vegas/Venecija u Las Vegasu/Venice in Las Vegas (Istituto Italiano di Cultura, 2008), Croatian-American writer and artist Neda Miranda Blazevic-Krietzman displays comparable images of Venice, Italy and the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. In seventeen pairs and one triptych, the photos are all 18 x 12 inches. In her accompanying text, she describes the Nevada hotel as “a very successful imitation of the Doge’s Palace” in Venice and explains the project as evolving from her questions about our responses to original artwork and architecture, as well as to replicas.
